PrEP Click and Collect Service Information

18.03.24 5 minute read

What is the click and collect PrEP service?

Dean Street Express is piloting a new way of obtaining PrEP via a click and collect service. This would require you to obtain a negative HIV test via SHL, and within four weeks of a negative result, to complete an online form to confirm your safety checks. We will check this information and organise a six-month PrEP supply to be available to collect at Dean Street Express after two working days, without needing a face-to-face appointment. You have been contacted to see if you would like to take part in this service because you have had normal kidney checks within the last six months and are due for another PrEP prescription. In six months, we will ask you to attend your next PrEP appointment face-to-face. This will mean once a year you can get your PrEP supply without having to wait for a face-to-face appointment. Please read all the information below for further details.

What happens next

  1. Firstly, you will need to complete a SHL testing kit from Sexual Health London .
  2. You should complete and return the testing kit, including the blood tests.
  3. When you receive a negative HIV test result, you will have up to four weeks to contact us for click and collect PrEP. If your SHL blood test was not successfully tested, for example, because of an insufficient sample or inconclusive result, you will not be able to proceed with the pilot service and will need to book a PrEP appointment via our website – Welcome to 56 Dean Street – STI Screening, PrEP and HIV Services).
  4. Once you have a negative HIV test result from SHL, you will need to go to https://chelwest.liliehub.health/ and select appointment name ‘Clinical use only – 90’. You must do this within four weeks of getting a negative HIV test result with SHL otherwise we will ask you to make an appointment.
  5. Complete the form and select the day you wish to collect your PrEP from Dean Street Express.
  6. We will send you a text message once your PrEP prescription is ready for collection. Please allow for 2 working days. We will provide six months of PrEP.
  7. On the day you want to collect your PrEP, please come to Dean Street Express reception and show the reception team your confirmation text message about your PrEP collection.
  8. In three months, please perform a sexual health screen with SHL.
  9. In six months, please make an appointment to attend for you next PrEP prescription in person via our website as you will be due a repeat kidney test.

Please note if there are any issues with the PrEP request form and/or SHL test results we will ask you to attend clinic in person.

The new service is only available for those with no symptoms, not a contact of an infection, and do not need vaccines. If you have symptoms, or if you are a contact of a STI, or need a vaccine, please do not use this service and call us on 0203 315 5656 for a face to face appointment where you can obtain PrEP at the same time.

What happens in six months when I need more PrEP?

You should attend a face-to-face appointment because we need to perform kidney checks every year.

Can I share this link with others?

Do not share this link with others as you have been specificity selected for this service based on clinical criteria. Those who have not been selected will be re-directed to book a face-to-face appointment.

Will you check SHL results?

We will check your SHL results to ensure your HIV test is negative within the last four weeks. We can’t provide PrEP without having a recently confirmed negative HIV test result.

What happens if I don’t request PrEP within four weeks of having a SHL screen?

We will ask you to use our face-to-face PrEP appointments and not to use the click and collect service.

Can somebody else pick up my PrEP on my behalf?

No. We will ask you to show the confirmation text message to reception team and they will confirm your personal details.

Can I order Emergency PrEP via Click and Collect?

No. It will take two working days to process your request.

Why am I eligible for this service but my friend who meets the criteria isn’t?

We have a select group of patients to be part of the pilot, and currently, we are not able to open this service to everyone.

Can I get a vaccine or do a screen when I collect my PrEP?

No, you will need to book an appointment via Welcome to 56 Dean Street – STI Screening, PrEP and HIV Services
